Top Jinnah Hospital official suspended

LAHORE: Punjab Health Department has suspended the Medical Superintendent of Jinnah Hospital, one of the largest public hospitals in Lahore.

Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Yasmin Rashid, in a late-night call to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Imran Sikandar, ordered the suspension of Dr Yahya Sultan.

Dr Javed Butt has now been given the additional charge of the post.

A report claimed Butt had complained to Rashid about what he declared as inappropriate measures following a visit to the facility.

Sources said Sultan was suspended over “inadequate measures” in the hospital, without elaborating further.
