UoG student leads team as environmental initiative takes root at FC College

LAHORE: In a significant step towards environmental stewardship, Muhammad Hammad Mir, a 10th-semester BS Architecture student from the University of Gujrat, spearheaded a ground-breaking project at FC College, Lahore, the other day. The initiative, titled “Empowering Environmental Responsibility: Implementing Waste Segregation at FCCU,” was sponsored by UGRAD Pakistan and aimed to instill a culture of sustainability within the campus community.

The project saw the strategic placement of waste segregation bins throughout the college grounds, coupled with an educational seminar to bolster awareness among students and faculty. This endeavor was the brainchild of the Bio-Enviro Educators-BEE, a dedicated team of eight members hailing from various universities across Punjab province.

The successful completion of this project marks the fifth such environmental venture by the BEE team, reflecting their ongoing commitment to ecological education and action. Their efforts were recognized in the FCCU newsletter, highlighting the project’s significance and the team’s contribution to the college’s green initiatives.

In a statement, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar lauded Mir’s efforts, saying, “I believe you outdid yourself this day. Your teachers must be proud of your unswerving motivation and dedication towards this project.”

The commendation underscores the impact of Mir’s leadership in fostering a more environmentally conscious generation.

The project’s success at the FCCU serves as a beacon of inspiration, demonstrating the power of collective action in the face of environmental challenges. It is a testament to the vision and perseverance of young leaders like Mir, who are paving the way for a more sustainable future.
