Founder of Ashraf Group of Industries remembered on 39th death anniversary

LAHORE: The 39th death anniversary of Al-Hajj Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, former Senator and renowned industrialist, founder of Ashraf Group of Industries, was observed with solemnity here on Tuesday.

Late Ch Ashraf is father of Chaudhry Muhammad Zaka Ashraf, Chairman Ashraf Group of Industries and Chairman Pakistan Sugar Mills Association.

A large number of civil and high officials, politicians, farmers, elected members of national and provincial assemblies, former Nazims and local bodies members, present local bodies members and large number of people from Sindh and Punjab along with journalists group attended the death anniversary.

On the occasion, speakers paid tribute to services of late Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf for introduction of revolutionary measures in the field of agriculture and socio- economic development remote areas. Special prayers were offered on the occasion for eternal rest of the departed soul.

It is important to mention that late Ch Muhammad Ashraf not only actively participated in business and social activities in Sindh but also worked as an activist in Independence Movement for creation of Pakistan under the guidance of his uncle Chaudhry Rehmat Ali Khan, a close aide to Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Later, he was elected as senator from Sindh during the regime of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He headed many organizations established at Hyderabad for Punjabi abadgars in Sindh.

He departed from this mortal world in November 1983. His invaluable contribution in social, welfare activities, political field and industrial sector will always be remembered.
