ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Indonesia’s Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani on Tuesday reaffirmed trade and investment as central pillars of Pakistan–Indonesia cooperation, as both sides reviewed avenues to deepen economic engagement.
Roeslani, who also serves as chief executive officer of Indonesia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Danantara, arrived in Islamabad on Monday evening. He held talks with Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where discussions focused on strengthening bilateral economic and investment ties, according to the Foreign Office (FO).
The two leaders reviewed potential collaboration opportunities and mutually beneficial projects, including an exchange of views on sovereign wealth fund models. They reiterated that expanded trade and investment would remain the cornerstone of the Pakistan–Indonesia partnership.
Delegation-level talks were also held, during which both sides explored cooperation prospects in priority sectors, including health. The FO said presentations were given by the Ministry of Finance, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Board of Investment (BoI), outlining Pakistan’s investment landscape, priority sectors and facilitation mechanisms, while seeking Indonesia’s experience in areas such as sovereign wealth fund structures and downstream investment.
Dar reaffirmed the shared commitment to longstanding bilateral relations rooted in mutual respect and cooperation, noting that mutual investment could serve as a catalyst for strengthening Pakistan–Indonesia ties.
The meeting was attended by SIFC National Coordinator Lt Gen Sarfraz Ahmed, Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the BoI chairman, Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal, the acting foreign secretary and other senior officials.
The visit comes amid growing high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto paid a two-day official visit to Pakistan in December 2025, during which both sides agreed to enhance trade and cooperation across multiple sectors. Subsequent visits by Indonesia’s vice trade minister and defence minister further underscored the momentum in bilateral relations.
