ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik on Tuesday announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), bringing an end to a decade-long association with the tournament.
In a message shared on X, Malik said he would always cherish the moments and friendships he made during his 10 years in the PSL. “It’s time to call it a day,” he wrote, adding that his passion and commitment to serving the game of cricket would continue. “Thank you, PSL,” he said.
Malik had earlier stepped down in May last year from his role as Domestic Cricket Mentor, saying it was time to move on in order to ensure fairness and focus on multiple personal and professional responsibilities.
A prominent figure in the PSL since its inception, Malik represented Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. He featured in 93 matches, scoring 2,350 runs during his PSL career, according to ESPN Cricinfo.
