Senate passes bill to include reproductive health education in curriculum

ISLAMABAD: The Senate has passed a bill to incorporate reproductive health education into the national curriculum. Under this new legislation, students aged 14 and older will receive structured education on reproductive health in schools. The bill defines reproductive health education as encompassing knowledge related to physical, mental, and social well-being.

As part of the new law, schools will be required to obtain written consent from parents before providing any reproductive health instruction to students. The bill also mandates that textbooks include age-appropriate content on reproductive health while the curriculum is being developed.

Lawmakers have hailed this initiative as a crucial step in enhancing awareness, promoting responsible behavior, and ensuring the overall health and well-being of young people.
