Punjab winter school timings spark confusion among teachers and parents

ISLAMABAD: Confusion spread across Punjab’s education system on Thursday after contradictory announcements on winter school timings left students, teachers, and parents uncertain about the new schedule.

Earlier on Wednesday, several district education authorities (DEAs) across Punjab issued notifications introducing revised winter timings for schools, specifying new reporting hours for both teachers and students.

However, by the evening, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat dismissed those notifications, stating on social media that the School Education Department (SED) had not issued any official directive regarding winter timings.

His clarification caused immediate uncertainty, as many district administrations had already circulated their new timetables to schools and staff before his statement. Teachers and parents were left questioning whether to follow the district-issued timings or wait for fresh instructions from the provincial department.

The public criticized what they described as recurring mismanagement in school timing announcements every winter, pointing to poor coordination between provincial and district education authorities.
