Is Islamabad closing down for three days? Find out

ISLAMABAD: Authorities on Monday denied reports circulating on social media claiming that all schools, colleges, and offices in Islamabad would remain closed for three days from October 14 to 16.

Officials clarified that no such notification has been issued by any government department, calling the viral message “baseless and misleading.”

The fake circular, which spread widely online, falsely announced a three-day local holiday across the federal capital. Authorities have urged citizens to verify all information through official government channels before sharing it on social media.

They also warned that spreading false or fabricated notifications can lead to unnecessary panic and may result in legal action under cybercrime laws.

Citizens are advised to ignore unverified messages and rely only on official websites or verified social media accounts of the government and education departments for accurate updates.
