Punjab orders closure of some schools. Here’s why?

LAHORE: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has mandated the closure of schools operating on plots smaller than ten marlas. The new policy requires these schools to either relocate to larger buildings or expand their current premises to meet the minimum land requirement.

School owners have been given a two-month deadline, until November 10, to comply with the regulations. If expansion is not possible, they must move to a new location and inform PEF authorities, who will inspect the premises before granting formal approval.

Failure to comply with the directives will result in legal consequences, according to officials.
