Holiday announced on September 24th in 14 districts

KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on Wednesday, September 24, to facilitate voters during the local government by-elections across 14 districts in the province. An official notification confirmed that all government offices and institutions in these areas will remain closed on polling day.

The districts where the holiday will be observed include Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Matiari, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Badin, Thatta, Karachi West, Karachi East, and Keamari.

To ensure security, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested the deployment of Sindh Rangers at sensitive polling stations in Karachi’s East, West, Keamari, and Umerkot districts. The move is intended to maintain law and order, particularly in areas where there may be heightened security risks during the by-polls.
