10 PML-N workers among 85 booked for attack on PTI protesters

FAISALABAD: The police on Saturday claimed to have booked 85 suspects including 10 Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) workers for alleged torture and firing on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in Mamu Kanjan area of the industrial city yesterday.

According to police, the PTI workers came under the attack during protest against the assassination attempt on PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Mamu Kanjan area of Faisalabad. Several workers of the PTI were injured in the attack. Following the attack, the Mamu Kanjan Police registered a case under three sections of the PPC against 85 persons including 10 PML-N workers. The police registered the case on the complaint of a citizen Qudratullah whose nephew Gul Nawaz lost of his eyes after being tortured by the accused.

The police have registered the case against 10 nominated and 75 unidentified suspects. The violent incident took place when PTI workers were protesting against the gun attack on Imran Khan.

Yesterday, unidentified assailants had opened fire at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) sit-in in Faisalabad against attack on party chief Imran Khan during long march.

Abu Bakar – a PTI leader – said that the attackers came in a jeep and opened fire at the participants of the protest, wherein former federal minister Farrukh Habib and MPA Mian Waris were also present.

Abu Bakr further said that the attackers fled towards the camp of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah after opening fire. He also accused the police of taking instructions from somewhere else.
