ISLAMABAD: People of Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir dwelling on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) will observe black day on Thursday against the invasion and occupation of the valley by India since October 27, 1947.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the day will be marked by a complete shutdown and civilian curfew in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Protest marches, rallies and seminars will be held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan and all over the world to condemn the invasion of the territory by New Delhi as well as the revocation of the special status of the occupied region by the Indian government on August 5, 2019.
The call for the observance of the shutdown and black day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC).
The organisation, in a statement in Srinagar, asked the people to demonstrate to the world they would not rest till Jammu and Kashmir was liberated from Indian slavery.
It urged the global community to give up its criminal silence on the Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir and take practical steps to force New Delhi to give the people their right to self-determination in line with the UN Security Council resolutions.
Meanwhile, posters emerged in Srinagar and other parts of the disputed territory, urging people to observe a shutdown.
It was on this day in 1947 that Indian troops in blatant violation of the spirit of the Partition Plan invaded Jammu and Kashmir to occupy it against the will of the people.
