Iraqi embassy restores visas for Pakistani pilgrims ahead of Arbaeen

ISLAMABAD: Iraqi embassy in Islamabad announced the restoration of suspended visas for pilgrims going to Karbala for Arbaeen Imam Hussain and assured the provision of facilities including Iraqi air reservation for Pakistani pilgrims on Monday.

According to the Iraqi Embassy, the decision was made in order to avoid any inconvenience for pilgrims who wish to observe Arbaeen Imam Hussain. Apart from that, they will also be allowed to enter Iraq from Iran using the land route.

The embassy made an announcement regarding the restoration of suspended visas for pilgrims and iterated to approach the Iraqi Airways office to complete the necessary travel procedures.

It further appreciated the efforts of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar for their extraordinary efforts in the process of restoring suspended visas and said that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s telephone call to his Iraqi counterpart on September 10 played a key role in securing the pilgrims’ journey and provide facilities.
