LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Friday directed all the departments concerned to speed up relief activities in areas affected by flood in River Chenab.
Pervaiz Elahi directed the officers to accelerate relief activities in Rajanpur, Rojhan and Taunsa, saying provision of relief to the affected people should be the frist and foremost priority.
“We will not leave victims alone in such difficult hours,” said the CM.
According to DC, more than eight relief camps are functional in flood-affected areas of Rajanpur and three meals a day are being provided to 11,000 victims.
According to PDMA, 1,076 houses were affected by the flood in rivers and deluge from Koh-i-Suleman.
Meanwhile, the Met Office on Friday forecast more rain with wind and thundershower in Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, north and eastern Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
However, isolated heavy falls are likely in Islamabad, upper Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, north-eastern Balochistan and Kashmir.
Furthermore, heavy and light rain continues intermittently in Azad Kashmir. Therefore, the water level in rivers and streams in the area is also rising.
