Traffic suspended after train derailment near Rahim Yar Khan

Three bogies of Awami Express, heading from Peshawar to Karachi, derailed at Khanpur near Rahim Yar Khan on Thursday morning; however no loss of life was reported.

Sources in the Pakistan Railways (PR) told that the mishap took place near City Park.

They further said that the cause of the accident could not be ascertained as yet.

A train left Rohri for Khanpur to assist in relief and rescue activities.

Meanwhile, As many as 17 goats were killed while two persons were seriously injured after a truck carrying sacrificial animals from Dera Ghazi Khan to Lahore overturned at Manga Mandi, near Lahore on Thursday.

The condition of one of the injured was stated to be critical till last reports came in.

According to the eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to save a car, and eventually ended up hitting a footpath.

The personnel of Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to a local hospital, while as soon as the local police as well as the Motorway Police (MP) learnt about the incident they rushed to the site of the accident as well and started the investigation.
