Sharif discusses economic ties with Saudi, UAE

ISLAMABAD: In the follow-up to the recent visits of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, a high-level economic delegation of the latter visited Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss economic and trade relations.

Sharif while talking to the delegation said Islamabad attached the highest priority to its relations with the UAE and was desirous to strengthen the relations to the next level, especially on the economic front.

“This visit during the Eid holidays exhibited the keenness of the sheikhdom to invest in our country. Pakistan warmly welcomed this brotherly gesture, and had a keen interest to welcome significant investments from the Emirati brothers,” the PM further stressed.

The two governments agreed to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation including in the fields of trade, energy, infrastructure, petroleum and other important sectors.

They agreed to remain in close contact for the implementation of the investment and trade decisions made at the leadership level.

PM, SAUDI VOW TO BROADEN TIES

Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also reaffirmed the desire to work together for further deepening and broadening bilateral relations to the mutual benefit of the nations.

The prime minister made a telephone call to the prince to extend his best wishes and greetings on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr.

He conveyed his warm wishes and prayers as well as greetings for King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the people of Saudi Arabia.

Sharif expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded by the kingdom’s leadership during his visit to the nation.

Recalling his interaction with the prince during the visit, Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen the historic ties with Saudi Arabia and further elevate the strategic relationship in all spheres.

He also underscored his firm resolve to implement the decisions taken during his recent meeting with the crown prince.

Bin Salman also reciprocated Sharif’s Eid greetings and conveyed greetings and best wishes to the people of Pakistan. Reaffirming his desire to work together for augmenting and diversifying bilateral cooperation, he underlined his resolve to follow through on the understandings reached during Sharif’s visit.
