Former MNA and author Bushra Rehman passes away in Lahore

Mrs Farrukh Khan expresses heartfelt condolences over the sad demise

LAHORE: Former MNA and novelist Bushra Rehman passed away here in Lahore.

The funeral prayers of the deceased Bushra Rehman were offered at 4pm today at Garden Town. She belonged to Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q).

Bushra Rehman served MNA on a seat reserved for women from 1988 to 2008. She was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab on a reserved seat for women in the 1985 elections. She was the recipient of the Sitara-i-Imtiaz for her achievements in the literature.

MNA Mrs Farrukh Khan, President of the PML-Q Women’s Wing, has expressed heartfelt condolences over the sad demise of Bushra Rehman.

Paying rich tributes to late Bushra Rehman, Mrs Farrukh Khan said that Ms Rehman throughout her political career remained aligned to the politics of principles and worked untiringly for the welfare of the womenfolk.

“She was a very learned woman and always wrote about the human issues with a specific angle to women,” she added.

Bushra Rehman wrote novels including Allah Mian Ji, Bahisht, Barah e Raast, But Shikan, Chaand Say Na Khelo, Chara Gar, Chup, Ek Aawara Ki Khatir, Khubsurat, Kis Morr Par Milay Ho, Laazawal, Lala Sehrai, Lagan, Pyaasi, Sharmeely, Tere Sung Dar Ki Talaash Thi and Tuk Tuk Deedam Tokyo.
