Mengal, Wasay to support no-trust motion against Balochistan CM

QUETTA: In the backdrop of political upheaval in Balochistan, Balochistan National Party (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Balochistan president of Jamiat Ulema-e Islam Abdul Wasay have agreed to support the disgruntled ruling MPs in their efforts to table a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan.

An important meeting was held between Mengal and Wasay on Wednesday during which they deliberated on the political situation in the province and agreed to support the estranged parliamentarians in efforts to oust Khan.

They held that their parties would later decide, after a no-trust motion was tabled, if they would like to become part of the new government or they would bring their own candidate for the office of the chief minister.

They decided to establish contacts with the opposition parliamentary members and estranged MPs.

On the other hand, the estranged MPs have issued an ultimatum to Khan to tender his resignation until 6:00 pm today or else they will use all other options including a no-trust motion.

However, in the face of all odds, Khan has vowed to save his seat, refusing to give in to the demands of his resignation.

The opposition and estranged MPs alliance once again have put their heads together to find a way to remove Khan.

During its all night deliberation, the opposition alliance mulled over ways to make Khan to call it a day. They were of the view that the chief minister should resign today in any case.
