Chinese Covid-19 vaccine trial results likely in few days: minister

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Thursday said that the late-stage trial for a Chinese Covid-19 vaccine was completed and the government will likely get the results in a few days.

Talking to the media in Rawalpindi, the minister said that the mortality rate from the pandemic has decreased in Punjab.

The coronavirus vaccine, she said, will be administered to frontline health workers in phase one.

Dr Rashid said: “The Punjab government has so far distributed 5.2 million health insurance cards – for the indoor facilities, including neurosurgery, cardiac treatment, and dialysis – amongst the most deserving families.”

“Our plan is to extend the scope of the insurance scheme to the whole of the province. One health card covers treatment up to Rs 720,000. All families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been issued the health cards.”
