Govt to implement court orders on Imran Khan’s medical care, Senate told

ISLAMABAD: The government will fully comply with court directives regarding the medical treatment of the PTI founder, the Senate was informed on Thursday.

Responding to a query by Leader of the Opposition Raja Nasir Abbas, Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah said politicising an individual’s health was inappropriate and should be avoided.

He noted that the matter was already under consideration before the Supreme Court, where reports submitted by the relevant authorities had addressed concerns about the PTI founder’s medical condition and facilities available to him in jail.

Sanaullah told the House that a report presented by the PTI founder’s legal counsel following a prison visit detailed the facilities provided, including medical care, cleanliness arrangements, exercise equipment, and meals.

He said the report did not indicate any denial of medical treatment, although it mentioned the PTI founder’s dissatisfaction and his request for further examination by specialists of his choice.

According to the adviser, jail records showed that medical examinations were conducted whenever complaints were raised, and doctors acted in line with established procedures, including referrals where required.

He added that the Supreme Court had reviewed both the prison authorities’ report and the submission by the PTI founder’s counsel and had observed no major discrepancies.

Assuring the Senate of full compliance with judicial directions, Sanaullah urged lawmakers to refrain from drawing political conclusions from a matter still under judicial review. He emphasised that protecting an individual’s health was both a legal obligation and a humanitarian responsibility.
