Nawaz, Maryam meet UK envoy, vow to deepen Pakistan–UK partnership

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday held a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott to discuss matters of mutual interest and the evolving regional situation.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Marriott praised Nawaz Sharif for his contributions to Pakistan and commended the development initiatives being undertaken by the Punjab government under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership.

According to sources, the talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including education, healthcare, and climate change. Both sides explored new avenues for collaboration and the development of institutional partnerships aimed at long-term development and public welfare.

The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to further deepen Pakistan–UK ties. Nawaz Sharif noted that closer engagement between the two countries had become increasingly important amid shifting regional and global dynamics.

Maryam Nawaz also stressed the need to enhance cooperation with the United Kingdom, especially in trade and investment, describing cross-sector collaboration as crucial for sustainable economic growth and stability.
