Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has stated that Pakistan remains a serious and peace-seeking nation, even in the face of regional hostilities. He was speaking in an interview with a foreign news outlet following the recent military confrontation between Pakistan and India.
Chaudhry attributed the root of current tensions to India’s continued support for terrorism, especially within Pakistan. He said New Delhi avoids addressing the core issues and instead pushes a narrative that unfairly blames Pakistan.
Commenting on the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he criticised India for accusing Pakistan within minutes of the incident, despite admitting later that the investigation was still underway. He urged India to present any evidence to an impartial global forum if it had genuine proof of Pakistani involvement.
He accused India of acting as “judge, jury and executioner” by launching missile strikes on mosques and killing civilians, including 22 women and children. The strikes, he said, resulted in 40 civilian deaths.
Chaudhry reiterated that India is the main sponsor of terrorism in the region and has been backing elements like Fitna al-Khawarij and insurgents in Balochistan. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s resolve to defend the country’s sovereignty under all circumstances.
He noted that Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was launched in response to Indian aggression, targeting military sites across the border. Pakistani forces shot down six Indian jets, including three Rafale aircraft, and dozens of drones during the operation.
The conflict concluded on May 10 after 87 hours, following a US-brokered ceasefire. The ISPR reported that 53 people, including 13 armed forces personnel and 40 civilians, were killed in Indian strikes.
The recent flare-up began after a deadly attack in IIOJK that left 26 tourists dead. India blamed Pakistan without presenting any evidence.
