Street vendors attack traffic officer in Karachi’s Saddar

KARACHI: A traffic police officer was assaulted by street vendors in Karachi’s Saddar area after attempting to remove roadside encroachments, triggering a clash that was caught on camera.

The incident, which quickly spread across social media platforms, shows tensions escalating after the officer asked a stallholder to clear his cart from the road to ease traffic flow.

According to a police statement, the vendor responded aggressively and began physically attacking the officer. The video footage shows the officer being pushed and shoved before falling to the ground, as other vendors and traffic police personnel rushed in to intervene and calm the situation.

Police confirmed that a case has been registered and one suspect, identified as Abdul Qadir, has been arrested. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend another individual involved in the assault who fled the scene.
