LAHORE: Former National Security Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Nasser Khan Janjua has cautioned that India may once again launch a missile attack on Pakistan, urging the government and defense institutions to stay alert and prepared.
Speaking at a seminar titled “Pakistan’s Recent Diplomatic Successes, Future Prospects, and Upcoming Defense Strategy,” Lt Gen (Retd) Janjua said that India is well aware of Pakistan’s advanced missile capabilities and its ability to respond decisively to any aggression. He noted that after recent conflicts, Pakistan and its armed forces have gained greater global recognition, while India finds itself increasingly isolated.
Janjua further stated that the United States has systematically weakened leadership across the Muslim world, destabilizing nations such as Iraq, Libya, Egypt, and Syria, and continuing to target Iran. He emphasized that Pakistan, being the only Islamic nuclear power, remains a central concern for its adversaries.
Highlighting the tense regional environment, he warned that India’s internal political pressures make another potential strike against Pakistan a realistic threat.
Addressing the seminar, Air Marshal (Retd) Sajid Habib described the India-backed banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as a global menace, declaring that “if India attacks this time, we will shoot down 70 of their aircraft.”
Foreign affairs analyst Muhammad Mehdi praised Pakistan’s balanced diplomatic approach with both China and the United States, while acknowledging that “much more still needs to be achieved.”
