PTI’s Shahbaz Gill booked for online defamation under PECA

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Shahbaz Gill under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

The case was filed following a complaint by Punjab Police Inspector Mazhar Iqbal, who alleged that Dr Gill uploaded videos containing defamatory content against him on his YouTube channel and TikTok account.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that in these videos, Dr Shahbaz Gill used derogatory and inappropriate language directed at the complainant and his family, along with making false allegations and misstatements.

It also notes that several other individuals shared these videos on their channels, further damaging the reputation of Inspector Mazhar Iqbal and his family.

The NCCIA has assigned Sub-Inspector Mohsin Razaq to investigate the case.
