Call for swift arrest after school van shooting in Battagram

HARIPUR: Muhammad Saleem Khan, president of the Private Education Network (PEN) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, condemned the shooting incident targeting a school van in Battagram’s Pirhadi village, describing it as a brutal and cowardly act.

He demanded the immediate arrest of the masked gunman and urged authorities, including the K-P Hazara DIG and Battagram DPO, to register a case under anti-terrorism laws and take prompt legal action.

On Tuesday morning, the gunman opened indiscriminate fire on the van, injuring five children seriously. Khan called for a transparent investigation to deliver justice and warned that failure to act could trigger widespread protests by private educational institutions across the region.

He criticized the targeting of innocent students—“travelers in pursuit of knowledge”—caught in a personal enmity involving the van driver.
