SARGODHA: Kot Momin, once known for its premium kinnow orchards, is now gaining recognition as a major hub for peach cultivation. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of local farmers, particularly those in the nearby Mela area, the region is witnessing an agricultural transformation, with peach production now rivaling and surpassing traditional areas like Swat and Abbottabad.
Historically, Punjab relied on peaches imported from northern regions, often at high costs and lower quality. However, Mela has now become a key source of high-quality peaches, producing early-season fruit that meets both aesthetic and taste expectations.
Muhammad Boota, a leading orchardist, explained that years of research and experimentation have helped identify the best peach varieties suited to the local climate and soil. “We worked tirelessly, adopting modern farming techniques, and the results speak for themselves,” he said, noting the peaches’ superior taste, fragrance, and appearance.
In addition to peaches, the area is also cultivating other fruits, including pomegranates and grapes, with particularly promising results for the grape harvest. Boota is confident that Kot Momin will soon become a significant name in Punjab’s agricultural sector, contributing high-quality produce in abundance.
This agricultural shift is not just an economic boost but also a model of rural development. It has created job opportunities, ensured the availability of fresh produce for consumers, and proved that with innovation and research, agricultural success is achievable.
Kot Momin is fast becoming a symbol of future agricultural potential in Pakistan.
