LHC petitioned for probe order into Dubai Leaks via FIA, FBR

LAHORE: A petition has filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking orders for carry out an investigation into the Dubai property leaks through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and The National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

A citizen Mashkoor Hussain filed the petition in the LHC through Advocate Nadeem Sarwar, in which the Federal Government, NAB, FIA and others have been made respondents.

The petition stated that the names of many Pakistani politicians and businessmen had appeared in the Dubai leaks. He argued that it was mandatory for every politician to disclose all his domestic and foreign assets, saying many of the persons whose names have been mentioned in the Dubai leaks did reveal their properties in the annual tax returns and nomination papers. “The court should order the FIA, NAB and other relevant institutions to investigate the Dubai leaks”, he added.

The petition requested that an investigation should be conducted to ensure that the properties revealed in Dubai had not been bought through money laundering, and that action be ordered against the owners if they were found to be illegal properties in Dubai.
