Shibli Faraz, US diplomat discuss bilateral ties, economic & political situation

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Senator Shibli Faraz was called on Deputy Political Counselor of the American Embassy Christopher J. Brown at Parliament House on Thursday.

During the meeting, Pakistan-US relations, economic and political situation and matters of bilateral significance came under discussion.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Shibli Faraz emphasized that economic and political stability were interlinked highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation. He said that there was need to promote a conducive environment for constructive discourse and progress.

Acknowledging the challenges facing the nation, he called for engaging with all stakeholders. “Dialogue with all stakeholders is the only solution,” he asserted, stressing the significance of inclusive decision-making processes.

Echoing the sentiment of continuity and stability, Senator Faraz underscored the importance of consistent policies to ensure sustainable development. “Continuity of policies is essential for sustainable development,” he emphasized.

He observed that majority of the population consists of youth, they have to be brought into the mainstream of development.

Furthermore, the Opposition Leader in Senate emphasized the urgency of implementing reforms across various sectors, with a particular focus on the power sector and state-owned enterprises.

The two sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening Pak-US relations and fostering mutual understanding for the prosperity and well-being of both nations.
