Aimal Wali Khan elected as ANP’s new President

PESHAWAR: The Central Council of the Awami National Party (ANP) unanimously elected Senator Aimal Wali Khan as the Central President of the party.

Former Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti suggested the name of Senator Aimal Wali Khan for the central presidency.

All the members of the Central Council of the ANP approved the name of Senator Aimal Wali Khan as President of the party.

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has extended warm felicitations to the newly elected President of the Awami National Party (ANP), Senator Aimal Wali Khan.

The PPP Chairman, in his congratulatory message to Senator Aimal Wali Khan on Sunday, expressed his confidence that the legacy of democracy and progressive ideology, rooted in the principles of Bacha Khan, would continue to flourish under Aimal Wali Khan’s leadership.

He said that the transition of leadership within political parties to the younger generation marked the onset of a promising new chapter. “I remain optimistic that the trajectory of Pakistan’s future is bright and promising,” he added.

Aimal Wali Khan (38 years old) is a Pakistani politician and the son of the former central president of ANP Asfandyar Wali Khan; the grandson of the founder of ANP, Abdul Wali Khan; and the great-grandson of the founder of the Khudai Khidmatgar movement, Abdul Ghaffar Khan.

Aimal started his political career in 2007 as a worker for the Pakhtun Students’ Federation (PSF). He remained associated with the student wing till 2011.

He was elected as Provincial President of ANP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 12 April 2019. Aimal also holds the Directorship of Baacha Khan Trust.
