Toilet cleaner mixed in Bushra Bibi’s food on Shab e Barat, claims spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Mashal Yousafzai, spokesperson for Bushra Bibi, alleged on Thursday that during Shab e Barat on February 24, two to three drops of “toilet cleaner” were mixed into the food consumed by the wife of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder.

“We discovered that Bushra Bibi’s Iftar meal contained two or three drops of toilet cleaner,” claimed Yousafzai during a TV program, adding that Bushra’s health deteriorated after consuming the meal and continued to worsen.

Yousafzai, who also serves as an advisor to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, questioned why Bushra’s medical tests had not been conducted despite court directives for three weeks. She expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding Bushra’s declining health since her arrest.

Despite court orders, Yousafzai claimed that Bushra was not allowed to undergo blood tests. She insisted that the tests be conducted at Al-Shifa Hospital and cross-checked at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital to determine if any poisonous substance was present.

Yousafzai detailed an incident where Bushra experienced chest and left arm pain, leading to an abnormal ECG. Despite delays in medical attention, she emphasized that the former first lady’s health concerns were not receiving appropriate urgency.

She argued that Bushra Bibi, as a housewife and not a politician, faced different circumstances compared to other political figures, implying that she was targeted due to her association with the PTI founder.

Last week, a thorough medical assessment was conducted under the supervision of Khan’s family physician, revealing no significant health issues other than minor gastric discomfort. Bushra Bibi underwent various diagnostic tests at a private hospital, but declined to provide a blood sample. The medical reports were cleared by the attending physicians, confirming her overall good health.
