Motorcyclist killed in alleged collision with CM protocol’s vehicle

NAROWAL: A young man lost his life after an alleged collision with a vehicle belonging to the Protocol Security Squad of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The victim, identified as Abu Bakar, was riding a motorcycle when the incident occurred in Chandowal area of Narowal on Thursday.

According to the Narowal District Police Officer (DPO), the security convoy for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was en route to Kartarpur when an elite force vehicle reportedly overtook and hit Abu Bakar’s motorcycle, resulting in his immediate death. The search for another motorcyclist involved in the incident is currently underway.

Following the incident, the body of the deceased was shifted to DHQ Hospital and the police launched an investigation to ascertain the facts. The DPO confirmed that an FIR will be registered based on the request from the victim’s family. He also assured that legal action would be taken against those responsible, ensuring impartiality in the process.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had plans to visit Kartarpur to participate in the Baisakhi festival. Ahead of her visit, Regional Police Officer Taib Hafeez and Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Hyder Shirazi visited the gurdwara in Kartarpur to review security arrangements.

They met with the gurdwara administrators and Sikh pilgrims, emphasizing the provision of full security to the Sikh community during the religious celebrations.

During the inspection, security measures at the gurdwara’s entrances and exits were thoroughly reviewed. Instructions were issued to the security personnel to maintain vigilance and closely monitor any suspicious activities.
