KP inks MoU with CPEC Center to train 200,000 students in digital skills

PESHAWAR: As a major development in increasing the trained and skilled manpower in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Department of Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and CPEC Cultural Communication Center of the People’s Republic of China under which Two lakh students of government colleges in the province will be taught digital skills in various fields including web development, app development, cyber security, artificial intelligence, graphic designing and others.

In this regard, an official ceremony was held at Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad on Thursday.

Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice Retired Syed Arshad Hussain Shah participated in the ceremony through video link while Caretaker Provincial Cabinet members Dr. Najeebullah, Dr. Aamir Abdullah and Dr. Qasim Jan and other relevant officials were present in the ceremony.

The ultimate objective of the MoU is to establish a long-term strategic partnership between the Department of Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the CPEC Cultural Communication Center to provide market-based training to young students and increase the skilled workforce of the province through digital skills and training programs for targeted students. will be arranged.

Steps will also be taken to ensure the provision of employment opportunities in the relevant fields to the students who complete the training as per the memorandum of understanding.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the concerned authorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Caretaker Higher Education and CPEC Culture Communication Center on the said partnership and said that this partnership is not only a milestone for meeting the needs of digital skills in the province. It will also prove, rather, it will lead to strengthening the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and China.

The Caretaker Chief Minister said that the caretaker Provincial Government is working under a comprehensive strategy to provide market-based training and digital skills to the youth of the province and to increase skilled manpower.

Apart from this, a human capital export strategy has also been formulated to provide employment to trained and skilled youth in the international market.

The partnership between the Department of Higher Education and the CPEC Culture Communication Center will be an excellent initiative in achieving the goals under the above strategy.

He directed the concerned authorities to start implementing the memorandum of understanding without wasting time, the provincial government will provide all possible support for this purpose.
