Six barbers found shot dead in Mir Ali

MIR ALI: The bodies of at least six persons, later identified as to be barbers, were found from fields in Mosaki area of Mir Ali in North Waziristan district on Tuesday morning, police officials confirmed.

According to local police, the victims were running barber shops in the local bazaar, adding that they were abducted a day earlier and their bodies had been recovered on Tuesday from a nearby area.

The bodies of at least six people were found in the Mir Ali area of the North Waziristan district on Tuesday morning, a senior police official said.

Talking to the media, Bannu Regional Police Officer Qasim Ali Khan said the bodies were recovered from fields in Mosaki area of Mir Ali, adding that it appeared from the bullet wounds that the deceased persons had been shot dead by unidentified assailants.

The senior official said that the slain individuals worked as barbers in the area and hailed from Punjab. “One of the slain men had a computerised identification card which shows he belongs to Dera Ghazi Khan,” the official added.

The RPO said all the bodies had been moved to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigation into the incident and started search for the arrest of culprits. The latest incident from North Waziristan came after five labourers had been killed and a watchman was injured by unidentified gunmen while they were sleeping in an under-construction police station in Wana.

According to the locals of the area, the victims were constructing a police station. At night when they were asleep in their tent, unidentified gunmen shot them dead and fled.

Among the dead, three labourers belonged to the Burki tribe of Shikai and two to the Wazir tribe of Suparkai. The bodies were shifted to the hospital for post-mortem. On the other hand, South Waziristan Police Department is investigating the killings.

It must be noted that at least five terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation by security forces in the Mir Ali area three days ago.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the terrorists had been actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as extortion and targeted killings of civilians.
