PTI Core Committee calls Nov 3 as ‘Black Day’ in country’s political history

  • Laments no probe made into tragic incident despite lapse of year to protect real culprits
  • Says nation will never forget assassination attempt on Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core Committee termed the November 3 as “Black Day” in the country’s political history when a cowardly assassination attempt was made on the nation’s only and most popular leader PTI Chairman Imran Khan; however, despite lapse of a year, no investigation was made into the tragic incident to punish the attackers and unmask the conspirators.

PTI Core Committee, in its meeting, said that on November 3, 2022, the former prime minister was subjected to a brutal, shameful and outrageous conspiracy like a murder in a broad daylight in the presence of thousands of citizens.

The forum dubbed the failure to probe into the conspiracy and to trace the attackers as a shameful attempt to protect the real culprits.

They contended that the conspiracy to kill Imran Khan was not the assassination of a personality, but a conspiracy to push Pakistan into an abyss of chaos and disorder.

PTI Core Committee lamented that the nomination of the then Prime Minister and Interior Minister and a senior officer of a sensitive institution in the case was prevented through use of entire state power and they never investigated this brutal conspiracy rather investigation team set up to probe the attack was resisted at all levels and the police and administrative officers refused to assist the team without any legal reason.

They recalled that even after suffering bullet wounds, the leader of the nation foiled the conspiracy to push Pakistan into the fire of internal instability, chaos and anarchy by raising the slogan of peace; however, they stated that he was still looking towards the judiciary for justice despite lapse of a year.

PTI Core Committee made it clear that the nation would never forget the murderous attack of November 3, the characters involved in the plot and their heinous act against the country.

In the meeting, the participants viewed the role of the SC in fixing poll date as an important step towards the restoration of democracy in the country, adding that the top court’s intervention, role and decision would help end the wide-spread uncertainty in the country.

The forum expressed gratitude to the apex court for putting its weight in the cause of restoration of democracy.

It was said that after the announcement of the election date, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was facing daunting task to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

They went on to say that PTI was the largest party in the country and equally popular in all federal units; however, during the last 18 months, the party and its leaders, workers and supporters was being subjected to the worst state repression and fascism.

It was said that after the ECP announced the election date, the raid on the house of the sister of PTI Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa President Ali Amin Gandapur was a provocative display of disgraceful state terrorism.

The forum PTI’s participation in the election process without any fear or hindrance was pre-requisite for holding free, fair and transparent elections, adding that providing equal opportunities to all political parties for contesting elections was the essence of the clean and transparent elections.

PTI Core Committee underlined that ECP should take immediate decisions on all the pending issues including the immediate allotment of election symbol “Bat”, besides ensuring a level playing…
