GUJRAT: Dismayed over the world’s apathy towards the genocide of Palestinians by the brutal Zionist forces, a renowned Islamic scholar has called upon the Muslims to get united and raise their voices to shake the conscience of the world community to intervene and stop Israeli barbaric attacks on civilian population in Gaza.
“The Israeli aggression must be stopped, by all means and resources ─ political, diplomatic and social ─ as it is directly aimed at shattering the unity of Muslim Ummah,” said Sahabzada Peer Syed Atiq-ur-Rehman Shah, the chief guest of a seminar here at Hafiz Hayat Campus of the University of Gujrat on Monday.
Titled ‘Palestine’s Freedom and Our Responsibilities, the one-day seminar was organized by the Hayatian Islamic Forum with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar in the chair. Head of Islamic Studies Department Dr Syed Hamid Farooq Bukhari acted as the host. Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt and Coordinator Dr Shoaib Arif were among the guests of honour.
Prof Dr Mushahid said that it is our moral responsibility to support the Palestinians. “It is a pity that we have forgotten the teachings of our ancestors and become a slave to the glittering spell of materialism,” Dr Mushahid said, adding that the collective welfare of the Muslim Ummah is linked with our following the Holy Quran and the Sunnah.
Dr Shoaib Arif said that we have a strong spiritual and religious affiliation with the land of Palestine. It is our shared responsibility to extend every possible support to the oppressed Palestinians. Yasir Hussain Jami moderated the seminar. A large number of students and teachers from different departments attended the seminar.
