Six ‘dacoits’ killed in Karachi, two in Sheikhupura encounter

KARACHI/ SHEIKHUPURA: Karachi police claimed to have shot dead four ‘dacoits’ in an encounter in the city’s Saudabad while two robbers were killed and one escaped after an alleged encounter with the police near Qila Sattar Shah, police said Sunday.

According to police, the ‘encounter’ took place in Malir area of the metropolis in the limits of Saudabad police station. During the alleged encounter, a policeman named Hanif and three other people also sustained injuries.

Police recovered weapons, mobile phones and two motorcycles from the possession of the dead dacoits, The bodies of the dacoits and injured have been shifted to hospital.

Earlier on December 6, last year, two alleged bandits were killed in a police encounter in the New Karachi area. The encounter with five robbers riding on motorbikes occurred near Mangal Bazar.

The criminals were looting the valuables in the area when the patrolling police party arrived at the scene. Seeing the police, the bandits opened fire and in a retaliatory fire two of them were shot dead on the spot, while one of them was arrested in injured condition. Qatar-led negotiations between Israel and Hamas continue, source stated.

In Sheikhupura, two robbers were killed and one escaped after an alleged encounter with the police near Qila Sattar Shah, police said Sunday.

According to the police, three robbers had setup a picket and were snatching cash and valuables from passersby on a road and harassing women. After being informed, police reached the spot and cordoned off the area to apprehend the outlaws.

The robbers started firing when they saw the police team of Factory Area Police Station. Police retaliated effectively. The encounter continued for sometimes as a result of which two robbers were killed and their accomplice managed to escape.

Weapons and looted goods were recovered from the dead robbers. Police teams were raiding to arrest the robber who fled the scene.
