Govt going to introduce short package for pilgrims in Hajj Policy 2024

ISLAMABAD: Complemented by an additional allowance, the federal government introduced a short Hajj package spanning 20 to 25 days to ensure a more accommodating journey for all Hajj pilgrims.

According to media reports, the Federal Cabinet is poised to approve the expected Hajj Policy 2024 in early November, this announcement comes alongside a host of progressive changes that aim to enhance experience for the pilgrims. For overseas Pakistanis, the sponsorship Hajj scheme will continue, affirming the government’s commitment to facilitating the pilgrimage for its citizens living abroad.

In a move to ease the financial burden on pilgrims, sources indicate that those who opt to pay their Hajj expenses in dollars will be exempt from the lottery system. Another welcome addition is the option to choose a residence in Medina for a period ranging from 4 to 8 days.

Sources further indicated that in order to eliminate confusion and enhance the security of the luggage, all pilgrims will receive a bag with the Pakistani flag, a QR code, and pertinent information. To facilitate the application process, the government will launch a mobile app for online registration of Hajj applications.

The economy package, designed to cater to a broader spectrum of pilgrims, will cover a 40-day duration, as it was in the past. Sources indicate that more than 90,000 pilgrims will be accommodated under the official Hajj scheme.
