Rain and snowfall expected in Pakistan from October 16

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain and snowfall in the country from October 16.

According to media reports, a new westerly wind system is predicted to enter the country, which is likely to bring rain and snowfall across the country. This system is expected to enter Balochistan province through Iran.

Due to this system, rains are also expected in Central and Upper Sindh, and there will be effects of this system in South Sindh as well. There may be light rain in Karachi.

The PMD has also warned of heavy rainfall and hailstorms at isolated places during the period.

The westerly wind system is expected to bring 2 to 3 rain spells of different intensity and duration in the month of October, 2 in November and 3 to 4 in December.

This year is likely to have above normal rainfall leading to below normal mercury levels across the country. The same system is likely to bring heavy snowfall in snowy regions leading to prolonged foggy spells.

The PMD has advised the public to take necessary precautions during the expected weather conditions.
