PTI seeks permission to hold rally in Lahore

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally requested permission from the local administration to hold a crucial rally in Lahore. According to media reports, Sardar Azimullah, the Additional General Secretary of PTI Central Punjab, submitted the request to the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, seeking approval for the rally scheduled for October 15.

The primary objective of this rally is to engage with the public and disseminate information regarding the impending general election. PTI has proposed Liberty Roundabout as the venue for this significant gathering, aiming to reach out to a broad cross-section of Lahore’s population.

On the other hand Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set the deadline for voter registration, transfer, and validation. The preparations for the upcoming general elections in the country have entered their final stages. In a noteworthy development, the Election Commission has unfrozen the electoral rolls, enabling citizens to register, transfer, and validate their votes.

The election announcement has emphasized that all eligible individuals can register their votes until October 25. Until this deadline, eligible voters are urged to ensure the accuracy of their voter registration details, including addresses, transfer requests, and identity card information.

The registration, withdrawal, and validation of votes can be carried out at the District Election Commission offices. To do so, citizens are required to complete the respective forms, numbered 21, 22, or 23, and submit them to the relevant election commission offices.

It is worth noting that the Election Commission had previously published a preliminary list of constituencies and related reports. Additionally, Form 5 was issued for public awareness purposes. This process will remain open until October 2023, with those raising objections required to be registered voters in the relevant constituency.

As these developments unfold, the political landscape in Lahore intensifies in anticipation of the upcoming general election, with PTI actively engaging the public through its proposed rally to inform and mobilize voters.
