Maryam returns to Pakistan, Sharif’s impending schedule discussed

LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, the senior vice president and chief organiser of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), arrived back in Pakistan during the early hours of Sunday, following an extended stay in Saudi Arabia and Dubai.

Amidst heightened anticipation, Nawaz’s homecoming has drawn attention, particularly due to speculation surrounding the expected return schedule of PML-N supremo and deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Upon landing at Allama Iqbal airport in Lahore late on Sunday, Nawaz received a welcome from former PML-N lawmaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi.

Following “heartfelt reunions” and brief exchanges of pleasantries, Nawaz, accompanied by her personal security team, proceeded to her residence in Raiwind.

Her return to Pakistan comes after spending several days in Dubai and subsequently proceeding to London, where she joined her father, Sharif, to celebrate the religious festival of Eid ul-Adha as a family.

During her stay in London, the trip also offered valuable opportunities for crucial political consultations between Nawaz and her father, addressing the prevailing political situation in the country.

As Nawaz’s return takes centre stage, it coincides with emerging details of Sharif’s anticipated return to Pakistan. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Sharif is expected to travel first to Saudi Arabia and Dubai before returning to London for an estimated period of 5 to 6 weeks.
