LAHORE: The Lahore police announced on Wednesday that they have apprehended the suspect responsible for opening fire at the residence of Latif Khosa, senior lawyer and former governor of Punjab, revealing that his intended target was Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan.
Kamran Adil, deputy investigation chief of Punjab police, disclosed that the suspect, identified as Mohsin, alias Lamba, is also wanted in connection with 14 other cases involving firing incidents.
According to Mohsin, he hails from Samanabad, a locality situated in the Millat Park neighbourhood of Lahore.
During the investigation, the suspect confessed that he received monetary compensation from Zubair Khan Niazi, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) before carrying out the attack on Khosa’s house.

Adil further commented that the suspect’s actions were orchestrated to fuel tension between the legal fraternity and the government.
Earlier this month, an unidentified group of assailants launched a gun attack at Khosa’s residence, resulting in injuries to his driver. Khosa remained unharmed during the incident as he was inside, attending to a client’s case.
The attackers quickly fled the scene, leaving behind bullet holes on the door of the house.
Recounting the incident, Khosa expressed his shock upon discovering the bullet holes and shared that a Kalashnikov was used in the attack. However, he emphasized that such tactics would not deter their resolve, as they stand in solidarity with the chief justice.
