Amir Muqam survives unhurt in Shangla terrorist attack

SWAT: Adviser to Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam survived unhurt a “botched” terrorist attack in Martung area of his home district Shangla of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

According to details, Amir Muqam was targeted by the militants during a visit to his hometown for the inauguration of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office.

An exchange of fire took place between the assailants and the police after which the terrorists fled the scene.

Meanwhile, aerial firing was fired in the area while suspicious armed persons were also seen. On which a heavy police force reached the area.

DIG Malakand Division, Nasir Mahmud Satti said that as soon as the police got the information, a high alert was put in the entire area and a search operation was started by encircling the area, but no arrest was made.

On the other hand, Engineer Amir Muqam said that earlier there was a suicide attack on him at the same place in 2014, in which his companions were martyred.

“I am thankful to Allah that this attack has failed and we left after completing our scheduled program”, Amir Muqam expressed.

It should be mentioned here that the PML-N leader was attacked at the same place in 2014. The two attacks on a convoy of Muqam had left ANP leader Mian Mushtaq and at least seven other people dead.

He described terrorists as enemies of the country. Pakistan can achieve goals of development and stability “only by curbing the terrorism,” Muqam said.

On the other hand, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban issued a statement after the “botched attack”, claiming that “an attempt was made to hit Amir Muqam through land mines, but this attack could not be successful due to technical failure.”
