KP disburses Rs1.2b to boost municipal institutions’ financial status

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has released over Rs1.2 billion to 22 municipal institutions across the province in terms of tax revenue generated from immovable properties.

According to the provincial Finance department, 85% of the property tax collected in the fiscal year 2021-22 came from municipal institutions, amounting to a total of Rs1.12 billion. This substantial sum has now been disbursed among these institutions.

Among the municipalities, Town One received Rs10.36 million, Town Three received Rs60 million, University Town Committee received Rs9.53 million, City Capital Metropolitan received Rs371 million, Chamkani Rs30 million, Shah Alam Rs10 million, Badabir Rs2.9 million, and Pishtakhara received Rs4.4 million. Moreover, Abbottabad received Rs50.4 million, Charsadda Rs20 million and DI Khan Rs4.63 million.

Similarly, Haripur received Rs41 mn, Kohat Rs50 mn, Mardan Rs9 mn, Bannu Rs30 mn, Hangu Rs10 mn, Karak Rs5.1 million, Lakki Marwat Rs20 mn, Manshera Rs70 mn, Noswhera Rs40 mn, Swabi Rs10 mn, and Tank received Rs55,000.

This move is aimed to strengthen the financial resources of the municipalities and promote the development of the respective areas. The revenue generated from the property tax will be utilized to improve infrastructure, provide better civic amenities, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents in these tehsils.
