Tarar: Shaukat Khanum report advising Imran to rest injury is ‘fake’

ISLAMABAD: As doctors advised former prime minister Imran Khan to take complete rest to avoid further complications with his wounded leg, Attaullah Tarar, special assistant to the prime minister on the interior, rejected the medical report, declaring it fake and urging the courts to reject it.

Addressing a news conference on Thursday, he questioned why the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party was getting tests done from “his own” medical institute, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, instead of seeking “proper medical checkups from government hospitals or reputable private labs.”

Tarar accused Khan of playing different medical tactics for a long time to gain relief from courts, and said supporters and workers of the opposition party were engaging in a coordinated social media campaign against state institutions and government officials.

In light of this, a new case has been registered against Khan, he revealed.

He also claimed that Khan was pressuring the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for relief in the prohibited funding case.

Tarar further alleged that some judges of the Supreme Court were being blamed by the public for favouring Khan in over 120 investigations against him.

The minister criticised Khan for “dividing national institutions for his own benefit,” and accused him of receiving bail from courts without appearing before them, which he declared was against the law and the Constitution.
