Five robbers killed in Ghotki’s alleged shootout

GHOTKI/HYDERABAD: Five robbers were killed during an alleged encounter here in Ghotki while three accused were held in injured condition after separate encounters in Hyderabad, police said Wednesday.

According to Ghotki Police, five robbers were killed during a shootout with police in the wee hours of Wednesday. The police informed the suspects were waiting with intentions to rob someone and opened fire when they spotted police coming towards them. The police retaliated and a shootout took place. As a result of exchange of fire, all five suspects were killed, the police said.

The police said the bodies of all suspects have been shifted to the hospital. However, none of the suspects could be identified yet and further investigation has been initiated.

In Hyderabad, three accused were held in injured condition in three separate encounters with police on Wednesday.

According to the police, the first encounter took place in the limits of City police station, the second Phalili police station and the third Fort police station.

The accused held in injured condition were shifted to Civil Hospital. They were identified as Sarwar Oudh, Ajmal Rafiq and Younis Rajput.

The police recovered pistols and a stolen motorcycle from them. “The accused had opened fire on the police, and they were injured in retaliatory firing,” the police spokesperson said.
