Tomato price shoots up by Rs 41 per KG in capital: PBS

ISLAMABAD: The price of tomatoes increased by Rs41 per kilogram in a week in Islamabad, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The PBS stated that per kilogram price of tomatoes soared to Rs180, saying the commodity has been available at Rs180 per kilo in Islamabad and Rs150 in Rawalpindi.

Per KG price of tomatoes has been Rs160 in Lahore, Gujranwala (140) and Sialkot (120), PBS report said.

The market price of the vegetable in Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Peshwar, has been Rs. 120 per kilo. In Bannu the price of tomatoes is Rs. 110 per KG, while in Sargodha and Sukkur it is Rs. 100 per kilo, according to the PBS.

Tomatoes being sold in markets of Karachi and Khuzdar at Rs 80 per KG and in Quetta at Rs90 per kilogram, PBS stated.

The weekly inflation, measured by Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), witnessed an increase of 1.8 per cent to jump to 46.65pc on a year-on-year basis for the week ended on March 22, according to a report issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
