Bilawal and UN boss discuss Afghanistan and other key issues

UNITED NATIONS: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed a range of issues, including Afghanistan, during their meeting at the UN Headquarters in New York.

They emphasized the importance of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, and the Foreign Minister expressed concern about the situation there.

He outlined Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate humanitarian assistance and promote stability, including support for the UN Deputy Secretary-General’s recent visit to Afghanistan.

The UN chief praised Pakistan’s role as chair of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the successful conclusion of its Chairmanship of the Group of 77, and hosting Afghan refugees for decades.

The Foreign Minister appreciated the Secretary-General’s efforts for international financial reform and thanked him for his support during the catastrophic floods.
