Professor shot dead by university guard in Peshawar

Peshawar: A professor of Islamia College University, Peshawar was killed allegedly by a guard of the university after a crossfire between both parties on Sunday.

Police said after a verbal spat, both professor and guard, started firing at each other. As a result, Professor of English Bashir Ahmad was killed.

Police said the professor was killed by firing of university guard. Police also found five empty shells of bullets of Kalashnikov from the crime scene. Police further said that the dead body was shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Raiding teams were dispatched to the guard’s home for his arrest. Meanwhile, university spokesperson Ali Hoti said that a professor of the academic institution was killed. The spokesperson further said that Prof Bashir Ahmad belonged to Mardan. He said the professor and guard of the university had old enmity.

After arguments and verbal brawl, the guard of the university allegedly killed the professor. After committing the crime the alleged killer fled from the crime scene. Ali Hoti said that the facts would be clear after watching the CCTV footage.
