PM oversees culmination of Pakistan Navy’s Maritime Exercise AMAN-23

KARACHI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday attended the concluding ceremony of the multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN-23 of the Pakistan Navy.

The prime minister was chief guest of the ceremony held in the Arabian Sea. Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer, defence secretary, governor and chief minister of Sindh also attended the ceremony, Pakistan Navy’s spokesperson said in a press release.

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and services chiefs were also present. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi welcomed the prime minister on his arrival at Pakistan Navy’s ship in the Arabian Sea.

The prime minister was also given a briefing on the AMAN exercise who also witnessed the exercise and responded to the gestures of respect paid by the passing ships and aircraft at the time of witnessing the International Fleet Review (IFR) Exercise.

The ships and aircraft taking part in the exercise saluted the chief guest. Participated by over 50 countries, the eighth Maritime Exercise AMAN continued for six days.

Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN-23 organised by Pakistan Navy culminated in the North Arabian Sea with a powerful conduct of International Fleet Review (IFR) followed by spectacular forming up of AMAN Formation comprising Pakistan Navy and foreign naval ships. The Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Upon arrival onboard Pakistan Navy Ship MOAWIN, the Prime Minister was received by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi. Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Mr. Rana Tanveer, SAPM to PM Mr. Fahad Hussain, Governor Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Air Staff were also present on the occasion. In addition, ambassadors, high commissioners, senior military officers, Defence & Naval Attaches from various countries also witnessed the fleet review.

The Chief Guest observed various naval operational manoeuvres and drills conducted during IFR. The Fleet Review also featured an impressive Fly Past by Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force and participating foreign aircraft followed by Man & Cheership by participating ships. The mega exercise culminated with the participating ships forming up in traditional ‘AMAN Formation’ to signify collective resolve ‘Together for Peace’.
